Because we have 40 students, we must abide by our school and classroom rules and routines. Things can get pretty hectic fairly quickly so we ask for your assistance in a few areas:
School and Class Important Info
Important information will be available ONLINE so please check at least once a month for the latest news from the school as well as our classroom.
School Information is available on our school website TJS school website.
Classroom Information is available on our class websites.
Les Anniversaires/Birthdays
Birthday treats in the way of food are not permitted at TJS due to allergies and our committment to Healthy School.
You may however send goodie-bags with pencils, erasers, etc. or a great way to commemorate a birthday or celebration is donating a book to our classroom library labelled as a gift with your childs first name and class code inside the cover. It’s the gift that keeps on giving! Invitations to birthday parties may be handed out by students at agenda time or a break time in the morning. We encourage students to put any invitations directly into their agenda so that it is safe and arrives home.
Les Bouteilles de l’eau/Water bottles
Students should have a reusable water bottle at their desk. In the event that waterbottles need refilling, students should be refilling at lunch or break times. Students will be permitted to refill water bottles during class time if necessary.
For two reasons:
1. The children attend better when they are not always leaving the room to go into the school to drink.
2. The children need to re-hydrate for the health of their mind and body.
Please ensure the water comes to school in a leak-proof container and your child knows how to check to see if it sealed. We strongly suggest having them keep it in the outside pocket of their backpack or in a plastic bag just in case it spills.
Don't forget to help TJS be Eco-friendly and send reusable containers for snacks, lunches and drinks. In our class we are trying for BOOMERANG lunches so, all garbage goes home (this does not include juice boxes or other items that can be recycled, or any items that are compostable like banana peels.) We would also suggest having a small bag that they can reuse if there are any items that are non recycleable and not reusable (e.g., juice tetras--bagged juice). This will help decrease the amount of garbage in our portables.
Les vetements/Spare Clothing
We ask that all of our students have a spare change of clothing in the event that they become wet or muddy from outdoor recess or have a spill in the classroom at snack or lunch. Please ensure that extra clothing are in a plastic bag, labelled with your child's name for easy identification.
Les étiquettes/Lables
Please LABEL EVERYTHING that comes to school. Items such as: backpacks, food containers, coats, snowpants, hats, shoes, boots, school supplies. Many students have similar or the same items. With labels, it will be much easier to ensure that everyone has their proper belongings. A lot of items can be misplaced in school and during recess and end up in the Lost and Found. Students are expected to be responsible for their own belongings in Grade 2 but the labels help to identify to whom items belong. Lost and found can be accessed during the day, however, it is a child's responsibility to check during their break, not during class time.
Merci beaucoup! Thank you!
